Applause
If you live for the cheers, you’ll die from the boo’s…
But who really judges you? Let’s choose the truth.
You can hold your head high, keep your chin up, but they still will throw dirt,
Eyes on the crown, but they swear that it hurts,
Fake love disguised as wolves in sheep's vests,
Smiling in your face while they're plotting your death,
They don’t want your light, they just need a fuse,
They don’t want you to rise, just a seat for the views,
But pressure makes diamonds, so I stand in the heat,
They scream, "I won’t shine", watch God work while I sleep.
See, validation’s a drug, an addiction’s, a trap,
One day they cheer you, the next day they snap,
But if my worth came from crowds, I’d be broke in my soul,
So I measure my steps, let the Father control.
If you live for the cheers, you’ll die from the hate,
Everybody's not real, don’t confuse it with fate,
God loves you deep, so just walk in your worth,
Even when they don’t see it, his vision comes first.
Trust is a fortress, don’t let just anybody in,
Some pray for your downfall while saying "Amen.",
Your success has them bitter, they question your route,
But my path has a purpose, they can’t block it now,
I've been doubted, debated, they tried to erase me,
But the fire in my spirit? They can’t tame it,
I forgive but don’t forget, keep love in my veins,
Because bitter roots grow poison,I refuse to drink pain.
I will love me, through the storm and the shade,
Because every scar on my soul built the man that God made.
Everybody is not going to love you, I'm sure you have proof,
But the right ones will, just stay true to the truth.
("God loves you… love you too…")
