Failure Is A Teacher

I was living life, thought I was on the rise,
Victories piled up, but lessons passed me by,
I didn't appreciate the climb, the grind, the strife,
Until I fell, and my failures became my life,
I learned more from the nights I spent in pain,
Than the days I won, and the accolades I gained,
It's a harsh teacher, but it's the one that remains,
Failure's the fire that refines, that makes me sustained.

I didn't know what I had, until it was gone,
Health, love, time, they didn't last long,
But in the darkness, I found a spark,
A lesson learned, a new embark,
I don't want to fail, but it's a good guide,
A hard road, but it's where I reside,
Please God, I pray, let me learn from my wins,
And not just my losses

I took my health for granted, thought I was invincible,
Until sickness came, and my body was vulnerable,
I wasn't careful with my heart, played with love like a game,
Until it got broken, and the pieces were hard to reclaim,
Time, I wasted it, thought it was on my side,
Until I faced mortality, and my clock started to tick and slide,
And the people I loved, I didn't appreciate their time,
Until I thought they'd be gone, and my heart would be left to unwind,
But in the midst of the storm, I found a way to grow,
A new appreciation, a new path to tow

Now I'm trying to learn, from my successes too,
Not just my failures, but what I've been through,
I want to appreciate, the good times, the highs,
Not just the lows, where I had to compromise,
I'm trying to be wise, to see the lesson in all,
Not just the hardships, but the victories that stand tall,
Please God, I pray, bless me with the sight,
To learn from my wins, and shine with all my might,
I don't want to wait, until it's too late,
To appreciate, the blessings that you create

Failure's a harsh teacher, but it's one that I know,
It's taught me to appreciate, the ebbs and the flow,
I'll take the lessons, and the love, and the pain,
And use them to rise, to learn from my successes, and reign.
