Kevin's Story

In shadowed streets, where hope lay thin,
Lived Kevin, amidst the city’s sin.
Across from darkness, a dealer’s reign,
He witnessed horrors, felt the searing pain.

Survival’s game, a daily fight,
Where trust was fragile, day and night.
Yet Kevin held a belief so deep,
A reason for life, secrets to keep.

His friends, some fallen, some behind bars,
Marked by violence, bearing life’s scars.
But Kevin, blessed, though trials he faced,
Believed in purpose, in heaven’s grace.

Not an angel, but striving for light,
To bring a smile, make God’s face bright.
No selfish motive, no return desired,
Just faith unwavering, a soul inspired.

He faltered often, yet his spirit soared,
God’s presence felt, when no one explored
The depths of his heart, the burdens he bore,
Calling to heaven, forevermore.

A thinker, not a lover or a foe,
He dreamt of kindness, helping seeds to sow.
But silence fell, his voice now still,
Taken by nonsense, against his will.

A Friday morning, sun shining bright,
Gang violence erupted, stealing his light.
On his way to work, a future to seize,
His story cut short, brought to his knees.

He faced aggression, a senseless fight,
“What set do you claim?” echoing in the light.
Then the pump of a shotgun, a deafening sound,
Potential shattered, life unbound.

A tragic end, a future denied,
Leaving behind questions, wounds open wide.
We pray for Kevin, his family, their loss,
May he find peace, beyond earthly cross.
Gone on to glory.
