Responsibility
The clock ticks on, a steady, somber beat,
The past, unyielding, where shadows meet.
No hand can turn, no voice can ever call
Back moments lost, beyond recall.
That darkness lingers, a weight upon my soul,
A heavy cloak that takes its bitter toll.
The fight begins, to pierce the gloom and find
A flicker first, then leave the dark behind.
"I'm sorry" whispers, "Forgive what I have done,"
For seeds of sorrow that have sprouted one by one.
Responsibility, I claim it as my own,
But beg release, to stand here not alone.
No pity sought, no solace in despair,
Just strength to break these chains I cannot bear.
Not merely for myself, this desperate plea,
But all who stumble, caught in misery.
The rain, I confess, I summoned to the sky,
My foolish choices, watching reason die.
Illogical paths, where wisdom held no sway,
Impatient rushes, and laziness held sway.
I speak the truth, raw, honest, and so clear,
The source of storms, reflected in each tear.
The past is fixed, I cannot rewrite fate,
But vow to change, before it is too late.
