Celebrate Yourself

The weight of “should have” pressed upon my chest,

A tapestry of errors, that seem to never rest.

I wore it daily, threads of dark despair,

And only saw the flaws, the empty air

Where triumphs might have bloomed, but withered low,

A constant thought in my mind, “You’re not good, you know.”

But somewhere, buried beneath that heavy cloak,

A tiny ember flickered, barely spoke.

It said, “Enough. The record isn’t blank.

There’s light within you, let it rise and thank

The hands that built, the heart that pushed along,

The spirit fighting, fierce and bravely strong.

Forget the perfect, chase the real instead,

The effort given, the words kindly said.

Embrace the journey, stumble as you may,

And celebrate the progress, day by day.

No longer chained to shadows of the past,

A brighter future, built to truly last.

So breathe it in, this newfound, hopeful air,

And celebrate the ‘me’ that’s standing there.”
